Sowda Insulin Calculator ยท Last updated: July 2026
What Data We Collect
This calculator collects and stores the following information:
- Blood glucose readings (mmol/L)
- Carbohydrate intake values (grams)
- Calculated insulin dose recommendations (units)
- Timestamps of each calculation
- Insulin sensitivity factor and carb ratio settings
- Last dose time and units (if provided by you)
Why We Collect This Data
Dose history is essential for:
- IOB (Insulin On Board) tracking โ to prevent insulin stacking, which is the leading cause of severe hypoglycaemia
- Lockout enforcement โ to prevent repeated dosing within a 60-minute window
- Clinical review โ so you and your endocrinologist can review dosing patterns over time
How Your Data Is Stored
- Client-side: Dose history is stored in your browser's
localStorage. This data never leaves your device unless you use the backend server.
- Server-side (optional): If connected to the Sowda Insulin Calculator API server, dose records are stored in a SQLite database on the server. This is accessible only to users with the shared password.
- Server records include: dose ID, user identifier, timestamp, blood glucose, carbs, calculated dose, IOB at calculation time, and whether the dose was taken.
Who Has Access
Only you (or users you share the calculator password with) have access to dose history. We do not share, sell, or disclose your health data to any third party. The calculator does not integrate with any analytics, advertising, or tracking services.
Data Retention
Client-side data remains in your browser's localStorage until you clear your browser data or manually delete it. Server-side data is retained until you delete individual records or the database file is removed. There is no automatic expiration.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- View all stored dose records at any time (via the Dose History page)
- Export your data as a CSV file
- Delete individual dose records
- Clear all local data by clearing your browser's site data
- Request deletion of server-side data by contacting the calculator administrator
